A sought-after speaker, teacher and advisor to leaders of corporations, governments and organizations of all types around the world, Mr. Ferrell will talk about an interesting psychological approach to leadership, focused on understanding your motivations and how they shape your decision-making.
Focus on General Sessions
With May 1st just around the corner, we wanted to give a sneak preview of a few of the conference's general session topics.
Case Study: Hell's Angels Tom O'Connor Director of Legal Electronic Documents Institute and industry consultant
Large case projects are not always confined to large civil matters. The two largest document population cases in US District Court in Seattle have both been criminal matters which involved the US Public Defenders Office and court monitored litigation support solutions. This session will discuss how IPRO played a pivotal role in the most recent case, the first ever successful RICO prosecution of the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club. This discussion is especially important in light of the recent decision from Judge John Facciola in U.S. vs. O'Keefe which specifically looked to the e-Discovery portions of the FRCP for guidance in a criminal matter.
May 1st: 1:55 - 2:20 pm
The Future of e-Discovery Cliff Dutton Consultant and former lead technical editor for the first EDRM project
Electronic discovery has been inherently retrospective and reactive. Complicated, costly and sometime messy, it is traditionally called for in response to legal, regulatory and administrative obligations. Lessons from this retrospective art are being applied to implement proactive tools to manage business more effectively. The future of electronic discovery will see it evolve into an asset deployed by information systems professionals to reduce risk and enhance the value of their enterprises – even when they are not being sued.
May 2nd: 9:00 - 9:50 am
Why Buy the Cow? Mark Dowdy IBM Global Services; Business Unit Executive in e-business Managed Services
The on-demand revolution is powering a new knowledge-based economy. Leading the way is the Software as a Service model which is transforming the way business is done, creating new efficiencies and lowering cost-of-entry barriers for new companies in a market. What does this mean both for service providers and consumers of those services? When end users begin buying just the services that they need, and not investing in the infrastructure that goes into creating the services, opportunities abound. Understanding this process and recognizing when to buy the cow and when to take the milk and run is an important business decision in today's technology climate.
May 1st: 2:25 - 3:15 pm
Breakouts!
Here are some of the breakout sessions currently planned for the show.
Appendix A - The appendix (LFP Files) you can't live without! Megan Wilcox, IPRO
Do you know how many LFP commands are available? This session covers all the various LFP file commands to assist you in loading, manipulating and "tweaking" your IPRO image databases.
Hidden Treasures - Part 1 Jennifer Dietzman, IPRO
The emphasis for this session is the many IPRO utility programs which are not accessed through the IPRO Suite Launcher as well as our tag utilities. Many of these programs have been created to assist clients with a specific task but you need to dig to uncover these "treasures."
Hidden Treasures - Part 2 Heather Page, IPRO
This session continues on from Part 1 with the emphasis on IPRO System Utility programs. These programs can assist you with your everyday tasks as well as programs that can just make your image management system easier to manage.
IPRO Build v8.7 Terri Tipton, IPRO
This release of our powerful document production application has a bold new look and improved workflow. Important features have been added, to make this powerhouse production application even more powerful, intuitive and versatile.
Under the Hood of IPRO Security Charley Clary, IPRO
There is more to security in IPRO's product offerings besides the IPRO Secure module. This session will cover not only the options in our Suite on security but also the security that is used in VCode, iNet and eReview.
Leadership and Self-Deception: Helping Others to Get out of the Box Jim Ferrell, Arbinger Institute
This session will continue the learning begun in the keynote presentation by Jim Ferrell, bestselling author and global CEO of The Arbinger Institute. It is one thing to get out of the box oneself, but how can a leader help others to get out of the box? Learn the structure of influence and a strategic framework for influencing change in others--including the change of getting out of the box of self-deception.
Competing in a Commoditized Market Terry Harrison, Hobs Legal Docs
Remember that old saying "Turnover is vanity, Profit is sanity?" Maybe, now more than ever before, the Litigation Support industry needs to pay heed to that well worn cliche. It is clear that service providers are being "attacked" on many fronts. Large organizations swallowing up businesses and extending their services into processing; the Big Four accountancy firms boldly stating they will take our EDD business; and law firms and clients constantly looking to get more for less. These are some of the challenges facing us and how we react may well shape the future of the industry
Other breakout topics include:
- Introduction to FlexProcessing
- Pre e-Discovery Best Practices
- EDD Drag-Through Revenue
- FlexProcessing Advanced Tips
- How to Sell to Large Corporations
- The Litigation Lifecycle
- Software on Demand
- Litigation Prevention
