Joe Utsler, Vice President of Product Strategy for IPRO Corp., Addresses Professionals at Canadian ConferenceFocused on best approaches to technology use in knowledge management
Joe Utsler, Vice President of Product Strategy for IPRO Corp., a leader in the design of scalable, easy to manage litigation support software as well as e-Discovery software, addressed the Canadian Law and Technology Forum. In his presentation, Utsler focused on improved searching of litigation precedents, leverage review and case management processes and best approaches to technology use in knowledge management.
According to Utsler, this conference provided the ideal forum for information exchange, and the ability to supply attendees insight into the cutting-edge technology that IPRO offers. “I was particularly delighted to learn that so many people were interested in the newest techniques in case management processes and knowledge management,” said Utsler. “It was a pleasure to share information on the wide variety of IPRO products that have become integral to today’s attorneys and legal professionals.” He noted that the field is evolving so rapidly that many people were intrigued and fascinated by the myriad of technological advancement on which the legal industry depends.
Utsler added that the role of technology in law continues to expand and this series of presentations and workshops helped keep everyone apprised of the newest products, services, policies and processes.
The two-day conference included a day dedicated to Electronic Technology in Litigation, and another full session on Litigation Support and Knowledge Management. The conference provided information and concepts to a wide range of legal executives, including general and in-house counsel, litigation lawyers and litigation support specialists, chief information and privacy officers, and compliance and risk officers.
Utsler joined IPRO after a seven-year tenure with LexisNexis and Dataflight Software, which was acquired by LexisNexis in 2006. While there, he was the software evangelist for Concordance, the company’s electronic discovery and litigation document management technology. He worked with all aspects of Concordance, including development, strategic implementation, end-user application and continuous product improvement. He gained experience with direct use of litigation support technology while with Sidley & Austin from 1991 to 2001.
Utsler is a graduate of California State University in Long Beach, and has taken courses in programming and graphic design. He has continued his education with graduate work in Communications Systems Strategy and Management.
